Acts

Acts

Who established the Church? When and where did the Church begin? What is the purpose of the Church? Why is the Church a major part of God's unfolding plan? These basic questions are important because they lead us to glorious answers found in the Book of Acts. The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the gospel for all peoples. And as Jesus ascended to the right hand of the Father following his resurrection, the Book of Acts chronicles the beginning stages of the Great Commission he gave to his apostles to go into all the world and preach the good news to people from every tribe, nation, and tongue, establishing local churches throughout. The purpose of the Church today is not different from the purpose of the Church in the first century. We are called to listen to the apostles' teaching, walk with God and each other in fellowship, establish local churches, and tell all nations... to the ends of the earth... about eternal life that's found only in the crucified and risen Lord.
